Group Class:

Learn Your Machine and Some Basics Class.

This is a great place to start learning whether you are totally new to sewing or if you have some sewing experience up your sleeve. I have had quite experienced sewers who have picked up a trick or two from my classes.

I start all beginners using this core subject lesson and fined it is an excellent place for children to begin.

This small group the girls will learn -

  • Threading the machine - Learning the proper way to thread the machine and make sure all threading paths are threaded successfully.

  • Filling a Bobbin

  • Stitch Length and uses

  • Stitch width and uses

  • Understanding different stitch types and there uses

  • Button Hole function

  • Needles to use

  • Threads to use

  • Maintenance and services

Learn your Machine and Some Basics consists of two sections.

Part 1: Learning the functions and capability of the machine from low ended machines to high ended machine

Part 2: Learning basic sewing skills

  • Feeding fabric properly

  • Sewing Corners

  • Understanding fabrics - different types

  • Understanding grain lines and cutting patterns

  • Understanding seams, seam allowances and seam finishes

  • Constructing and understand seam construction

Once these core subjects have been completed a student can then carry on with a pattern or project of their choice to learn more sewing skills and build their sewing knowledge.
